I did this screen printed poster while attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I included it in a book project that told the story of the American psychedelic rock band The Misunderstood. Originally from Riverside, California, the band relocated to London to pursue their career as a rock band. Their trajectory was unfortunately marred by several issues, including visa and work permit troubles, and one of the band members being drafted by the United States Army, forcing him to return to America. Despite their short-lived career and limited creative output, they are widely regarded as pioneers of psychedelic rock. Their innovative sound was highlighted by the use of guitar feedback, steel guitar, slide guitar, distortion, and fuzz tone. They are also credited for breaking ground with a live light show during their concerts, in which they used car light bulbs that hooked into their amplifiers to synchronize their music with the lights.
