I did this illustration and layout for the food and drink magazine Stock & Barrel in Columbus, OH. The article was about a bill that was passed by the Ohio House that allowed the establishment of “refreshment areas,”, where people could legally drink alcohol in public. The writer, Chris Manis, humorously presented ideas for places around Columbus to become these “refreshment areas.” The end of the article referenced an episode of the TV show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where the main characters poured wine into Diet Coke cans in an attempt to secretly drink in public. I used this reference as a jumping off point for my illustration. The writer is portrayed in the illustration pouring wine into a Diet Coke can, and whistling to avoid looking suspicious.
